The Scenario Was Hopelessly Tangled

"Freeze, don't move
You've been chosen as an extra in the movie adaptation
of the sequel to your life." S. Malkmus

Coughing fits and Nyquil binges and spitting at stangers (blinkblink), Please send me a glossy of Walt Whitman. I've gotta get off this mountain. James Brown's last words were 'I'm going away'. I don't know what Gerald Ford's last words were, but they wouldn't be found in a collapsibe baton in a laptop bag. I have listened to every album by Sparklehorse then walked miles into Brooklyn into new constructions and grafitti into take out menus into very skinny people into abstract that seemed like some beauty racked like pool balls with holiday joy. I didnt want to ask anything of anyone but allow the staticfragilerumblecrushcountry of Mark Linkous to karaoke me to some take on tenderness. Sashay, maybe, most likely, stumble. A yeah yeah yeah then a yeah yeah nope.

Lead Us Not Into Temptation

"In order to play, one needs magic and.....": Carla Harryman

By Elisabeth Workman
"City Plan F"

ergo a brief encounter with geraniums in a courtyard, both public and difficult to find, offering its rumors selectively, where first thoughts flash collectively across static surfaces -- a crooked rearview mirror, a pond with fat fish, an orange smelling tabletop. Two kisses left before your time runs out, tiger face. Not for the faint-of-heart, flattery here is indentured to the wine that exudes a raunchy musk. Must we. Always. Boy flickers into man, makes fractions of fathoms, takes tulips from ottomans, puts everything fertile out front. Like it or the city. A conversation between light and fractures, till fresh taste be taken from that clearness. Here, both fantasy and forgetting are soluble in the book of the unsaid. My favorite monk with ruby lips said so. My dear, it's true -- let's frolic in the mulch, fuck in fuchsia, then sing finnish songs of blood in the cloud in the cake, those sad songs that so turn me on so that every word is somehow filial

"Poem from Deepstep Come Shining"

Everyone in their car needs love. Car love. Meat love. Money
love. Pass with care.

Deepstep, Baby. Deepstep.

The boneman said he would take the blinded driver to the river. With
a mirror. And then what.

The boneman said he would take the blinded into a darkened
room. And put a hot-herb poultice on their sightless face.

Mellein for this mullein for that. We called it flannel.

Then leave them there.

The baby sister of the color photographer had a baby girl in the
hills. Born with scooped-out sockets in the head. Born near the
tracks they sprayed with Agent Orange. The railroad's denials,
ditto the army's.

They would have been blue. The eyes. She did not have. Blue
as the chicory in yonder ditch.

We see a little further now and a little further still

She said her lights would be on and they were

Groping around the sleeping house in our gowns

Peeping into the unseen

Beautiful things fill every vacancy

These poets and their poemz may complicate my old pleasures.............

The Agony and Now the Ecstasy

LESTER SHUE’S best finest paramount unsurpassed greatest preeminent pinnacle summit peak vital chief supreme unequaled matchless utmost (kind of)(not in any paticular order)list of 2006 Music:

1) The Replacements (Best Of): The Minnesotan garage mess of pop trash. Paul Westerberg aka Grandpaboy and company are treated with a collection that collects 18 tracks with two new tunes.

2)Silver Jews: The countrified ramshacle stumble of Tanglewood Numbers is as happy as a hangover: Yes, It was fun, but how am I feeling Now songs that make you realize behind every smile there is, well, you can imagine. Plus they toured. Welcome back.

3)Destroyer: Destroyer’s Rubies. I love Destroyer. Saw them play in the southwest and since them I have been bearing my aching heart. Daniel Bejar (The New Pornographers and Swan Lake)wrote an album (#7) of Dylanesque songs (meaning the period of Dylan like rolling thunder)that is just the most engrossing album of Destroyer's career since Streethawk.

4)Annuals: Be He Me. Adam Baker. Yes. This North Carolina orchestral joy escape whose songs flirt with waltz classic rock disco chant you name it just makes you oh yesyes. Impressive debut.

5)Pink Mountaintops: Axis of Evol. Steve McBean (also Black Mountain). Seven tracks of evengelical white light and stoner heat on war peace hell sex the end of the world.

6)Active Driveways: Proof for Indio. Whole lotta fuzz sinister and trashy on the low-fi spectrum. Guitars jitter, drumming like body blows, excess urban white noise, cheap keyboards, and other unpredictable instrumentation, and a singer singing in the finest tradition of vocalization: He talks. A must if you can find it.

7)Sunset Rubdown: Shut Up I am Dreaming. Spencer Krug (Wolf Parade) Slippery, physical, whispery, sad, fable-like songs for an album that just demands the head space and phones.

There is definitely more albums worthy of mention, so let me know.

In Bedroom Rather Than Elsewhere

"And I have the feeling that people are high-fiving nearby" David Berman

My wife would sleep with Jack Black. She says that he has an inverted nipple, but that's not why she would sleep with him. Robert Pollard is going to release seven albums in the next year. Bedbugs and the word for war. The cat is chewing itself bald on the tail and other places too. I was waiting for the moment when the car idling like something clearing its throat will turn into music. I never once considered myself to be a dare devil even though the costume beckons. When the phone rang, but it was only a vicious rumor. I overheard some man say the human tongue has 14 muscles. A journey is a bad metaphor. Games with numbers make me anxious. There was no robbery because all we lost was our imaginations. Kids running down the street are below my window, above: traffic and satellites. I want to be stunned into remembering and pleasured into forgetting

Drop to floor. Try to Get Under a Heavy Table.

"Trot-trot
past the abattoir" Ron Padgett

There is a limit to kindness, but I have a moustache. I have intimate understandings. I carry a skycraper to work like a lunch box. I never had a lunch box, I had brown paper bags and a far that travels unheeded. Why shouldn't someone listen to (repeatedly) Jesus and Mary Chain's Psycho Candy? I didn't eat lunch today, I ate the noise of one very old woman screaming. Everyone paid attention and no one paid attention. This is Brooklyn. This is where grace increases and....I don't like my friends most of the time. I dont like the friends of my friends much either. Why shouldn't someone listen to FELT as much as possible. I read the newspaper and felt bad for most people. Will someone save Lawrence already! Im afraid people treat all of my words like questions. Holes in my sock, maybe yours too??? Too much cholesterol and too few scratch off winners. I painted my walls white. I don't want to be post anything.

French Study Cards

"I'll bagsy yours, If You'll bagsy mine."
Echo and the Bunnymen

Her mother's stairwell of light was immediate and insistent. I was, well, on my back, sleeping working like a narcotic (when sleep was all I could say i had done) (if sleeping is doing anything)watching channels pass flash television putting me down. Was it Marisa Tomei I saw? Was that another song I used to enjoy now the soundtrack of a place more exotic than my own and of people too much enjoying the present? Hee Ho hum. I am a citizen of the United States of America. I enjoy my frontal nudity time to time. Is that a chocolate donut? Is that a Brakhage film? My dearsweetnothingness.....ambers and eagles and golden stuff...Why don't I speak another language? Why is grammar a hammer? If this means nothing to you, good. Move on. You weren't supposed to be here anyway.

Oh! You Pretty Things

Wake up you sleepy head put on some clothes, shake up your bed. Watching television, television watching is our/my decline and my decline continued with me watching celebrity television which for some reason (reasons)i enjoy/have enjoyed for some time. But I have a problem. una problema (?) with the truth dot com ads. It is a difference in philosophy i suppose. Liberal me, but I believe people have the fundamental right to destroy themselves with legal substances i.e., alcohol and cigarettes (even illegal ones, but that is a different post). I hate these preachy, didactic, condescending ads of young people enlightening the public on the dangers of cigarette smoking, on the evils of the tobacco industry. Now, I don't smoke. I can't imagine anyone thinking that the inhalation of smoke is beneficial for them. Sometimes I enjoy the smell of a newly lit cigarette. Most of the time, I just can't handle a smoke-filled anything: room, clothes, breath. All the nightmares came today and it looks as though they're here to stay. The incomparable taste of of ten carefully selected botanical ingredients coupled with a unique distillation process. Distills its spirits alone. The spirit vapor from this ditillation then gently passes through a copper basket containing the botanicals. Be brilliant and inspired. What are we coming to, there's no room for me, no fun for you. The earth is a bitch we've finished our news Homo Sapiens have outgrown their use.
